There always seems to be that dilemma as what to serve the kids when you have a party. It also seems like one gets stuck in their ways when it comes to what to serve at a party. It also seems, at least the parties that I have attended, that the food is always the same.
True enough that food is food and as long as there is something to eat your guests will be happy, to an extent, yet it’s nice to be creative. This can quickly and easily be done with a little bit of preparation.
Whenever you are hosting a party you definitely want it to be one that people will remember, for all the good reasons, and food can be one.
Kids Party Food – let them make their own!
One way to do this is to come up with a theme for the party and make the food part of that theme. Let’s say you have a Greek theme then you can do all the food Greek. You can choose to do it appetizer style, which is probably easier, and have little bits of all different types of food. You can make all of the food yourself or choose to get some help with it by having it catered. You can also purchase the food pre made which is easier as well. It will be more expensive than doing yourself, yet not as much as hiring a caterer.
One novel idea for kids party catering is to let them make their own food. This can be easier than you may think, and less messy too. For instance you could let the kids make their very own pizzas. These are easy to make. Simply buy some pitta breads, bolognaise sauce and some pizza toppings (cheese, ham, pepperoni, sweet corn – it’s up to you). Then let the kids put their own toppings on the pitta bread bases. Once they have finished preparing their pizzas you can put them in the oven for 12-15 minutes until the cheese has melted and the ingredients are thoroughly cooked.
After eating their pizza the children will be wanting something nice for dessert. You could opt for the traditional jelly and ice cream or something similar, but again why not let the kids make their own dessert? You could buy (or make yourself if you have the time) some cupcakes and toppings. You can then let the children decorate their cakes exactly how they want.
The great thing about letting the kids cook their own food is that they will appreciate their food more and nearly always eat it all up, leaving you with less waste!
Searching online will reveal a wide range of different party foods that you could try for this year’s party that will ensure the food you serve this year the best in originality and taste.
